IH-35 Downtown Corridor Study, Austin, TX
The I-35 corridor is one of the most congested roadways in Texas. McCann Adams Studio in collaboration with HNTB supported TxDOT and the City of Austin in developing a community vision for IH-35 as it passes through Downtown Austin. A long and unsightly barrier between Downtown and East Austin, the Plan envisions a linear parkway above a depressed roadway, eliminating many of the negative aspects of the freeway, while improving traffic circulation. MAS assisted in the facilitation of numerous work sessions with an Advisory Group to craft an overall vision and a series of design recommendations that TxDOT has incorporated into an Implementation Plan, known as Mobility 35.
