Randahl Matsuno is an Urban Planner and Architectural Designer at McCann Adams Studio. Bringing a spectrum of project experience to the firm, Randahl is involved in work focused on community master planning, urban redevelopment and transportation. With a passion for the environment, Randahl approaches the design process with awareness to create connectivity and enhance the sustainability of the built landscape.
Education: Randahl received a Bachelor of Architecture and a Minor in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University in 2007. As part of his degree, he participated in a study abroad program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. With an advanced knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), he also served as a teaching assistant for the Heinz College, School of Public Policy and Management.
Associations & Memberships: Randahl is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Young Leaders group and a member of the Congress for New Urbanism. As part of ULI, Randahl has served on the Young Leaders Committee aimed at organizing events that foster the minds and create engagement amongst the youth membership and the community. The reach of his involvement includes the Hawaii, Philadelphia, Melbourne and Austin Chapter. Since 2009, Randahl has also been a LEED Accredited Professional.
Previous Experience: Randahl spent several years immediately after college as a planner at PBR Hawaii. While working at the firm, his project portfolio covered all the major islands. During these early years of his career, Randahl gained experience on a range of project types, from community to campus planning and resort development to resource management.
Prior to arriving in Austin, Randahl also spent time as an architectural designer at Kitchen & Associates. His design work on multi-family housing projects supported the rebuild efforts following the destruction along the Mid-Atlantic due to Hurricane Sandy.
