Waller Creek District Master Plan, Austin, TX
This master plan realizes the community’s longstanding vision for the enhancement of Waller Creek as a vibrant green corridor through Downtown Austin, connecting The University of Texas with Lady Bird Lake. The plan, commissioned by the City of Austin and prepared in collaboration with ROMA Design Group, includes a public improvement program, development standards, and an implementation strategy. The plan is based on three fundamental principles: enhancement of the ecological, hydraulic and open space value of the creek corridor; improvement of pedestrian and bike access to, along and across the corridor, and promotion of development activity and investment along the creek and in the surrounding neighborhood. The master plan was approved by Austin City Council and provided a basis for an international design competition sponsored by the Waller Creek Conservancy.
